Art education: Believing that the arts are the ideal communication media for a better understanding among people, LaCIM will have a permanent Latino art exhibit. LaCIM will offer art education programs and workshops for all ages. There will be a permanent pavilion for the exposition of the local works. Most importantly, peoples from different countries will be invited to offer workshops during extended residences. Community Development: Although intending to be the Latino Center in the Midwest, LaCIM will promote the creation of local Latino centered groups that will become the outreach arms of the Institute. LaCIM will strive to provide these local groups the necessary education and training to stimulate the economic, historic and folkloric revitalization of their communities. International exchange: LaCIM will organize two-way educational interchange programs to allow direct contact with other cultures. Activities will vary from the simple regional tours, to the more complex such as teaching at local schools or providing business advice to local entrepreneurs. |
